FOR COURSE DATES, SEE CALENDAR
join us at overdale for a weekend or four day ridden course, with or without your own horse

This is an intensive learning experience, designed to be challenging, supportive and fun! Bring your own horse or ride one of ours. Each day you will receive a one hour flatwork lesson shared between two people, taught by Mary Wanless and possibly an assistant, or a 45 min private lesson with a seniour RWYM coach. On w/e courses your second (group) lesson is 'supervised flatwork', but on four day courses you also have the choice of jumping or pole-work. Each afternoon there is a dismounted workshop, which includes time for question and answer, and off-horse exercises that illustrate the biomechanics of correct riding. On four day courses we add video feedback. To complete the package add the group camaraderie, and excellent local pubs! The maximum group size is 12 people. You can have an extra lesson if you wish on the afternoon when you arrive. The longer course gives you more time to become familiar with the changes in your riding, and to start ingraining them; to make more changes, and to increase your understanding of how those changes influence your horse.

teacher training courses take place at overdale every year in late september/early october,

To attend you must previously have ridden on at least one four day course with Mary Wanless, so that your basic questions about RWYM have been answered, and you are sure that this is for you! The TT courses take place late Sept/early Oct, with Basic TT following on from a 4 day ridden course so that riders from abroad can do all 3 courses if they wish. Many of the participants are young professionals, but the basic course is open to riders who want to gain a better theoretical and practical understanding of biomechanics, to improve their diagnostic 'eye', and to learn the communication skills that help people 'get it'. These courses are intensive and demanding, with lots of hands-on learning opportunities that will develop your 'eye' and your riding and coaching skills. We will meet before you come, so your questions will get answered; but if you need more information contact the office on 01993 831193.

We also hold themed teacher training courses each April, focussing on topics like lateral work, jumping, and sport psychology for riders and coaches

THE 'SUPERVISION SCHEME', WHICH IS OUR WORKING PUPIL PROGRAMME AT OVERDALE GIVES BOTH YOUNG PROFESSIONALS AND RIDERS OF ALL AGES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A PROLONGUED EXPERIENCE OF LEARNING THROUGH THE 'RIDE WITH YOUR MIND' APPROACH. THE STABLE WORK IS MUCH LESS ARDUOUS THAN IT IS IN MANY YARDS. WE ARE SANE AND FUN TO BE AROUND, AND WE FULFILL OUR PROMISES TO OUR STUDENTS!
