There are Lecture Demos held around the country in April, and in Feb 2008 we are holding a unique one day workshop 'The Naked Truth Of Riding' with Mary Wanless, Dr. Hilary Clayton ( a leading researcher into equine biomechanics ), and US international dressage rider Heather Blitz, who is the model in the new book 'Ride With Your Mind Clinic - Rider Biomechanics from Basics to Brilliance'.

The ‘Ride With Your Mind’ approach is a tremendous advance in teaching and learning. It shows any rider how to organize her mind and body in the same way as the riders we call ‘talented’. This enables each person to learn the same feels and to achieve the same results. The techniques used are very streamlined. By increasing the rider’s body awareness and using images which help her understand both what to do and how to do it, incredible improvements can be obtained in a very short time, defying traditional expectations.

Courses include riders at all levels, from relative novices to upper level competitors. Many club level riders worry that they are not good enough to come, but at Overdale, all riders are treated equally – for to do otherwise is to decide that a rosebud is ‘worse’ than a rose. Some upper level riders imagine that this work is only for novices and remedial riders; however, it has taken three riders to the level of becoming short listed for international competition. So much individual attention is given to each rider that no one will hold anyone else back. Everyone is invited to be supportive to everyone else as group members each take the next steps in their learning. In this regard, everyone is an equal!

Feedback from course participants who are club level riders:

'Just prior to taking your 4 day course I cautioned myself that it might not live up to the expectations generated form reading your books. I am delighted to tell you that the course greatly exceeded my expectations!'  P. G.

'I have learnt more in the last 2 days than I have in the last 5 years!' P. D.

'I thoroughly enjoyed the course and felt like I have been given a key that I have been searching for for years.' R. M.

'My expectations began when my instructor decided to teach me how to bring my horse on the bit. Therein began a battle that continued throughout my training until I discovered your work.' S. P.

'I congratulate you on your unique talents - your ability to home in on something that is almost intangible to the rider and to focus concentration on it so adeptly that it eventually becomes an unconscious habit.' L. D.

'...next came the afternoon jumping session. could there be any more input and excitement in learning on this same day? Why yes, and earth shatteringly so.' J. M.

Feedback from course participants who are GRAND PRIX DRESSAGE RIDERS.

' I am getting the collection that has eluded me for so long.' Sandy Howard, US team member in 1980, and reserve for the 1984 Olympics..    www.in-balance.com

'We are currently in first place in the nation for Grand Prix horse of the year for all breeds in USDF. Our average is 72.4% Second in the I2. I owe it all to you!' Heather Blitz, up and coming American dressage rider, who has ridden with me for the last 12 years. Watch this space! (And see article 41 in 'Read and learn'.)
