RIDING

A DAY OF GROUNDBREAKING INFORMATION!!

Mary Wanless

&

  Dr Hilary Clayton

BSc, BHSI, FRSA

      BVMS, PhD, MRCVS

Mary Wanless, renowned author, has dedicated her life to translating the secrets of talented riders into 'bite-size chunks' that make all the difference to every rider. Dr Hilary Clayton of the McPhail Equine Performance Centre, Michigan State University, is the leader in the field in Equine Biomechanics and the science of saddle fit and rein tension. For the first time ever this top level international coach and acclaimed academic combine their knowledge and experience of human and equine biomechanics in a warm lecture theatre. These theories are brought to life in the arena through the coaching of several club level riders, along with a demonstration on several horses by USA Grand Prix rider Heather Blitz. Heather has been a pupil of Mary's for over twelve years, and she shows exemplary biomechanics.

How do horses collect?
How do horses turn?
How does the riders seat affect the horse?
Does it matter to the horse if the rider leans back or stays vertical?
Does it matter to the horse if the rider's stirrups are longer or shorter?
Does it matter to the horse if the rider sits still or moves more?
Do talented riders have a specific ‘bumprint’?

Hilary will present some different information to that given in the 'Naked Truth' day of 2007

This one-off event will open your eyes not just to the theories and the amazing scientific proof, but will also offer practical & rideable answers that will change your riding forever! A must for all riders.

Sunday, 3 February 2008 10am – 4.45pm

We have some changes to this year’s line-up, which we would like to inform you of as they happen. Unfortunately, Dr Hilary Clayton has unexpectedly been unable to join us for the conference this year. However, we’re very lucky that her place can be taken by the unparalleled experience and technology of Russell Guire (BSc) of Centaur Biomechanics and Equinalysis.  Russell is at the cutting edge of this field in the UK and is the BEF’s official analyst, assesses & monitoring all our international team horses. He also works with all the horse & riders on the World Class Development Programme. Unlike Hilary, Russell is British based and works in the field as well as conducting research, so he has portable equipment which he can bring with him to take this research live into the arena.

We’re also lucky to have another new addition to the day, of the four-legged variety. Heather Blitz has confirmed that she intends bring her International Grand Prix horse Otto over with her.  Combined with Russell’s equipment we now have an afternoon of some very exciting ingredients indeed with Heather riding her own top-level horse as well as one of the local club level horses involved in the day.  We will have the opportunity to not only witness the shifts from rider to rider and horse to horse, but also analyze the actual shifts and differences occurring as they are being discussed.
